In other words, the company is bundling premium versions of Fantastical and Cardhop in a single subscription - and the price isn’t changing. If you want to unlock everything, you have to subscribe to the same Flexibits Premium subscription. Cardhop 2 is a free app with a few free features. Fantastical now also supports Zoom, Google Meet and Microsoft Teams.įlexibits wants to go one step further and create an ecosystem of productivity apps. For instance, you can now join conference calls quickly with shortcuts in the menu bar and in the app. Existing users could keep using the app for free as all existing features had been unlocked for them.Īfter switching to this new model, Flexibits released quite a few updates to Fantastical. New users could download the app for free and would have to pay a subscription of $4.99 per month or $39.99 per year to unlock all features. Last year, the company launched a new version of Fantastical with a freemium model. That’s how independent development companies used to charge for apps. Originally, the company released new major updates and users had to pay to download the new version. There are many apps that offer that feature already, but now it’s integrated.įlexibits has been around for 10 years. You can add contacts just by pointing your phone at a business card. On iOS, Flexibits has also added a business card scanning feature. And if you work for a big company with a contact directory, you could easily find the right person to talk with using this new feature. This is going to be a good alternative to email aliases.Ĭardhop can now also generate organizational charts and family trees based on relationships in your contacts. The next time you want to send an invitation, you can create an event with everyone in the group from Cardhop. And if you tend to invite the same group of people to your events, you can create a group in Cardhop. If you’re also using Fantastical, you can send a calendar invite to someone else from Cardhop. Widgets have been a popular feature of iOS 14 and many users will like that new feature. On macOS, you can access it from the Notification Center. On iOS, you can add it to your home screen. You can now create widgets with your favorite actions. With Cardhop 2, the design has been updated and there are a handful of new features. It can be particularly handy to initiate calls on your iPhone from your Mac. You can type “call Jane”, “email Tom” or “whatsapp Natasha” - Cardhop parses the action for you. The app truly shines if you think about Cardhop as a sort of command-line interface to interact with your contacts. If the person isn’t even in your address book, you can create a new contact just by dumping information in the search field. For instance, if you type a name followed by a phone number, Cardhop automatically figures out that the phone number doesn’t exist in the existing contact entry - hit enter and the number is saved.

1/18/2024 0 Comments Rocket raccoon cuteFittingly, Vol 2 ends with a shot of the raccoon finally finding a home after all these years of running. Where Cooper first voiced the character with a squirrelly snarl (in an almost unrecognizable register inspired by Goodfellas’ Tommy DeVito), by the sequel’s climax, he’s become startlingly solemn, with remarks like “I can only afford to lose one friend today,” when it seems as if Quill might not survive the film’s final battle. Peter Quill (Chris Pratt) might be the face of the Guardians, but Rocket is the group’s bruised, beating heart. ”I know you play like you’re the meanest and the hardest, but actually, you’re the most scared of all.” “You can fool yourself and everyone else, but you can’t fool me,” Yondu states. That film’s mission pairs him with the paternal space Ravager Yondu (Michael Rooker), where he receives a much-needed reality check. And, perhaps, to let their walls down for one another, which Rocket does-albeit slightly-by the end of Vol 1.īy 2017’s Vol 2, Rocket’s facade has been obliterated. But they all find something in one another, and that love drives them to bond together and save the universe. He’s a microcosm of the larger group: all of the Guardians are loners, afraid to be honest. “I didn’t ask to get made,” Cooper drunkenly snarls after a bar fight before threatening to fire several rounds into Drax (Dave Bautista).Īnger is Rocket’s defense mechanism, driving away those who dare get too close out of fear of showing vulnerability. Upon getting booked into the Kyln prison, we see that Rocket is the subject of unwitting experimentation, the scars of which are still visible. Almost immediately, glimpses of Rocket’s tragic history provide the context for his behavior. Moondragon is convinced Doom could find a way to destroy them as Rocket, but tells him he'd "look just adorable doing it too. This is the Rocket Raccoon experience in a nutshell: a cruel, angry creature with a selfish and defensive-minded approach to his surroundings. Doom as Rocket is displeased and tells Moondragon that not even "this foolishness" can stop him. After tricking Doom to switch back by suggesting he's taken control of Hulking because his own body is weak, Moondragon uses her own telepathic powers to redirect Doom's mind into Rocket Raccoon's. The Guardians prepare to attack Doom when he swaps mind with Teddy, leading the team to go after Doom in Hulkling's body. In Guardians of the Galaxy #14 by Al Ewing, Juan Frigeri, Frederico Blee, and VC's Cory Petit, Doom steals Hulkling's sword but is knocked to the ground by the King of Space. Not only have the Guardians got spiffy new costumes, but they've split into two separate teams with one featuring Rocket, Nova, Star-Lord- and Gamora, with another featuring newer members such as Marvel Boy and Quasar Boy, as well as Drax and Phyla-Vell. The latest iteration of the Guardians of the Galaxy continues to take shape, as multiple teams have assembled as the official protectors of the cosmos. 1/18/2024 0 Comments Micro focus filr downloadThe Add or Remove Moderators dialog box is displayed.Įnter the usernames to be added as moderators for the workspace. In the 1920s, the Art Commission had a reputation for preferring Beaux-Arts style architecture over modern designs. 4 The Art Commission was also responsible for regulating the City's fixtures and streets, including lamp post designs, street signage, water fountains, and fire hydrants. In 1913, the Art Commission developed a list of 50 structures that had historic and architectural significance. Already a member of the Municipal Art Society, Mayor Low allowed the Art Commission to review all designs for public works in the city. Things changed substantially when Seth Low was elected as mayor of New York City in 1902. The agency could only regulate artwork that was "commissioned by the government or donated to the city.” 2 In 1901, the City Charter was reformed, and a clause was included to allow the Art Commission to "veto any design that cost over a million dollars.” 3 Although the Art Commission was chartered in the new constitution, its powers were limited. The Art Commission was to consist of ten pro-bono members: the mayor of New York City the Presidents of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the New York Public Library, and the Brooklyn Institute of Arts and Sciences a painter a sculptor an architect and three laymen. In order to harness protection for an Art Commission, Carrère encouraged city officials to implement the new agency as part of the City Charter. In 1898, the City Charter Commission drafted a new constitution when the boroughs of Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, and Staten Island were consolidated into one municipality. In 1896, Carrère proposed this idea to the Fine Arts Federation, which agreed that such an agency was needed. John Merven Carrère, a partner in Carrère and Hastings, had a vision to beautify New York City by creating an agency that would approve designs for public art and architecture. The fair established the idea that cities could be beautiful by regulating public art and architecture. The New York City Art Commission was created in response to the City Beautiful Movement after the 1893 World Columbian Exposition in Chicago. Her grandmother even told her to stay because the beatings meant Dre loved her. NOBODY came to her defense other than telling her she needed to leave. What was even MORE troubling was that Dre beat her up in front of everybody – NWA, her friends, Jerry Heller, her makeup artists and stylists, etc. She stayed…and endured beating after beating. I woulda have been out but not before I put something in his food. I have a low tolerance for pain inflicted by a man that is supposed to love me. And then HE started crying and she comforted HIM. Like who does that? He broke her nose and I think he knocked out a tooth or seven. At one point he beat Michel’le in her damn sleep. Dre came off as a deadbeat, drunk arse, pot-smokin’ woman beater with multiple kids, a bad temper, and a penchant for crying. His Twitter, IG and Facebook were in shambles because every viewer was a) reading him for filth b) running their car tires over there Beats by Dre (which was about a year or so too late since Apple now owns them and c) cussing him out for what he did to Michel’le. I could totally see why Dre did not want this movie made because the Internet OBLITERATED his arse. When I tell you my mouth was open for 98% of the movie, I am NOT lying. I still was NOT prepared for the graphic violence that was displayed in the movie. I also knew first hand that Dre beat the HELL out of Dee Barnes, the host of a popular 90s hip-hop show called Pump It Up because Dee sued the HELL out of him, and he pleaded no contest. Michel’le has made no secret of the abuse she suffered at the hands of Dre…and then later at the hands of Suge Knight to a lesser degree. I don’t want to give away too much of what happened in the movie, but you probably know already. At one point, at least 7 of the trending topics belonged to this movie. Dre, Michel’le, Straight Out of Compton, NWA, Eazy E and even Jerry Heller. I was not prepared for the trending of the movie, Dr. I KNEW that this movie was going to not just bring out the regulars.but a whole bunch of other people who were gonna be watching this movie. Lifetime came a knockin’….Michel’le answered…and the result was “Surviving Compton”, which premiered on Saturday night.įirst off, there are a group of regular “Lifetimers” on Twitter every Saturday night, which is when Lifetime premieres new movies. Michel’le felt slighted about the Straight Outta Compton movie that conveniently left her out, when the truth was she was pretty much an honorary member of NWA. The previews told me everything I needed to know about this movie – it was going to be a no-holds barred biopic of Michel’le’s (the 90s R&B singer known for her breakout album by the same name…her rocky relationship with Dre…and later her marriage to Dre’s nemesis, Suge Knight). I needed to be in place at least one hour before with my snacks and wine ready to go. I was soooo ready for this movie, I was telling people I couldn’t hang out or be out doing ANYTHING past 6 p.m. 1/18/2024 0 Comments Area 1 r soccerLarge swaths of the El Corazon property remain undeveloped, including parts leased for temporary recycling and composting facilities. “We’re looking forward to getting to the landscaping aspect of this, and really shaping the look and feel of the park.” “Now we have to make sure that the rest of it does,” Bockman said. is really coming together,” said Joan Bockman, board president of the Friends of El Corazon, a nonprofit created in 2012 as stewards of the park’s development. 1/17/2024 0 Comments Carnival horizon bookingsEarlier shows tend to be family friendly, but later shows are definitely for adults. But things really get going at night, when it hosts comedians as part of the Punchliner Comedy Club. During the day, the Limelight Lounge hosts talks and seminars. We loved the variety here and found ourselves checking in often to see what was new. It might be dance music at one time, stringed instruments at another. It's got live music going on starting in the afternoon and going into the evening. There's seating around the bar as well in nooks and on colorful benches. The centerpiece is a stunning LED funnel that swaps images throughout the day. Horizon Atrium Bar (Deck 3, midship): Probably the first bar you'll see when you board Carnival Horizon, the Atrium Bar is something to behold. Every space is fun, but the vibe - and beverage offerings - at each is refreshingly different. Many of the bars are packed after dinner, but finding seats is rarely a problem because passengers naturally gravitate to their favorites, spreading the crowds across multiple venues. Carnival Horizon Bars and LoungesĬarnival Horizon's wide variety of bars and lounges means the ship is rocking well into the night. (We adored the close-up magician, who boggled our minds with his illusions.) The Liquid Lounge turns into a dance club some nights, complete with DJ. Guest entertainers might wander the ship, providing personalized fun. Carnival Horizon hosts themed deck parties, like an 80s glow party and a dress-in-white event. This is also when you'll find things like karaoke and singles meet and greets going on. In the evening, passengers can find live music virtually everywhere. The arcade costs extra, and you pay for your games by swiping your key card. The ship also has a large arcade, on Deck 6, that features air hockey and drive or shooting video games. It's got lots of slot machines along with table games like blackjack and roulette. Horizon Casino, located on Deck 4, is open when the ship is at sea. No matter which you pick, there is a fee. Shows run the gamut, from family friendly to slightly scary to completely terrifying. Carnival Horizon's Thrill Theater takes passengers on quick virtual adventures, playing to all the senses using special effects and motion. The giant screen poolside often shows movies, both during the day and at night, for free, and the ship has an IMAX movie theater, which shows current blockbuster movies for a fee (which is less than you'd pay at an IMAX theater on land). (Winners take home a coveted plastic ship on a stick.) Other participatory activities might include a digital scavenger hunt, dodgeball tournaments, hairy chest contests and poker tournaments. Sessions are well attended and fairly competitive. You'll find multiple rounds of trivia every day, with topics ranging from "Friends," to "Carnival" and "Harry Potter." There's also a round of sports trivia every day. If you're a trivia fan, Carnival Horizon is the ship for you. During the day, the Liquid Lounge is the spot for events like seminars, bingo, dance classes, trivia and shore excursion. When there isn't a Playlist Production, the Liquid Lounge also hosts guest entertainers, such as magicians and singers, along with shows like Hasbro, The Game Show and The Love and Marriage Show. Many passengers on our sailing elected to stand near the bar and behind the seats rather than risk obstructed views. If you get there later and find an empty seat, chances are, it's got poor sightlines. If you want to see everything - unobstructed - arrive early. The shows are a fun mix of music and technology (including aroma-infused sets), but sight lines are troublesome, especially in back, where you're battling large, silver pillars. Covering two levels, it's a bit of a departure from traditional cruise ship theaters, in part because it's designed specifically to host the ship's Playlist Productions, which include LED special effects. Liquid Lounge serves as Carnival Horizon's main theater. 1/17/2024 0 Comments Paw paw seasonThe perishable fruits keep for just a few days, making it impractical to transport them, so you won’t find them at your local supermarket. If you’re curious about tasting pawpaws but aren’t ready to grow them, you’re probably out of luck. Just discard the fruit’s thick skin and seeds, as they contain toxins. Regardless, the highly nutritious, creamy fruits, rich in vitamins, minerals and amino acids, can be eaten raw or used in any recipe calling for bananas, such as puddings, smoothies, muffins, cakes and breads. Some folks swear pawpaws taste like bananas others insist their flavor is more papaya-like. But hard pawpaws picked too early will not fully ripen off the tree. To outsmart birds and other wildlife that may try to swipe perfectly ripe fruit, you can pick them a little before they are completely ready, and the last bit will ripen soon afterward. Harvest the fruits in late summer when they are soft to the touch and detach easily. Sunflower is a rare self-fertile variety that theoretically should bear fruit if planted solo but would be more reliable if paired with a mate.Īvoid buying balled-and-burlapped trees, which are grown in fields and then dug up for sale the practice risks damage to pawpaws’ long taproots, impacting their ability to take up water effectively. Seek out grafted, named cultivars, such as Davis, Mary Foos Johnson, Overleese, Sweet Alice and Taylor, which will bear fruit in a couple of years, as opposed to seed-grown trees, which can take as long as six to 10 years to produce. In most cases, you’ll need to grow two different pawpaw cultivars to ensure cross-pollination and fruit production. Pawpaws are not invasive but will form a thicket if left unchecked. As far as care, the only other thing you’ll want to do is remove suckers that grow around the base of the tree. Water young trees regularly for a year or two until they’re established, and apply a 20-20-20 fertilizer once a month in April, May and June only. Select a sunny to partly sunny spot that offers some wind protection, and plant it in well-draining, slightly acidic soil with a pH level between 5.5 and 5.7. The pawpaw is about as low-maintenance as a fruit tree could be. |
